Pâtes de fruits: The revival of an ancient fruit delicacy

Pâtes de what? Questioning faces is what we often get when talking about these sweet delicacies. Pâtes de fruits are a traditional French confectionery made of a set fruit paste. You can recognize them easily by their typical fruit shape: apricot, strawberry, pear, orange and many more. 10th century delicacy

Pâtes de fruits are an ancient old confectionary product. The origin of which is believed to go back to the 10th century. Originally pâtes de fruits were described as confitures sèches. Locals took to candying fruit, mainly apricot, picked from the area’s lush orchards, to preserve for the winter months. It didn’t take long before the delicacy was noticed and the demand hit full pelt.

Naturally delicious

They are composed of fruit pulp, pectin extracted from apples or lemons and sugar. At Confidas, we always stayed true to the definition of a genuine pâte de fruits by ensuring a minimum fruit content of 50%. Aside from that there is no gelatin added. So these sweet delights are 100% vegetarian. They are lactose & gluten free and don’t contain preservatives, artificial colours nor artificial flavours. Pure fruit is what you taste.
